Helping Family Caregivers Stay Connected and Reduce Stress

Helping Family Caregivers Stay Connected and Reduce Stress

Caring for a loved one with memory loss or dementia, often brings a mix of emotions: love, worry, frustration, and exhaustion. Finding a way to stay connected as dementia progresses and a way to reduce your stress is important. One way is through Memoryboard.

At Memoryboard, we understand that journey personally, because we’ve been there. It was developed by a father-in-law and son-in-law out of their own experiences caring for parents and grandparents with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Driven by compassion, simplicity, and trust, it aims to give caregivers peace of mind while helping loved ones stay oriented and connected.

What Is Memoryboard?

Memoryboard is a simple display that sits in your loved one’s home. From a mobile app, family members and caregivers send clear, easy-to-read messages, reminders, updates, and tagged photos throughout the day. Whether it’s “Good morning, Mom! Hope you have a great day,” or “Don’t forget the doctor’s appointment at 3 PM,” these short messages bring clarity, comfort, and connection without your loved one needing to touch or manage the device themselves.

Some of the key features of Memoryboard include:

  • Customizable reminders for appointments, notes, and check ins
  • Real time messages and photos shared throughout the day
  • User-friendly interface managed remotely via a mobile app

How Does Memoryboard Help the Family Caregiver?

During our pilot with families across the U.S., we saw firsthand how this tool became a lifeline for staying connected. 91% of caregivers noticed an improvement in their loved one’s daily engagement. 86% of people with memory loss found Memoryboard easy to understand and use.

One daughter told us her mom was able to attend more events at her assisted living facility as a result of Memoryboard. Another caregiver used Memoryboard to share her dad’s daily schedule.

Hear from one caregiver about how Memoryboard helped in managing daily activities:

“My loved one was constantly asking about his schedule of doctor’s appointments, vendors or repairmen coming to the house, and where I was going to be each day. The Memoryboard has solved this issue. I post the day’s activities on the board and his questions are answered without repeatedly asking. On the rare days there are no outside activities, I post pictures of family or the car he loved but had to sell, all make him very happy! I LOVE Memoryboard, it has made my life easier and my loved one happier.” – Trena K.

Here’s what caregivers told us they loved:

Peace of mind: Knowing their loved one could see reminders even if they misplaced their phone.

Ease of use: No need for their loved one to press buttons or interact with a tablet.

Daily connection: Even a simple “We love you!” can brighten someone’s day and reduce feelings of isolation.

Shared responsibility: With the mobile app, an unlimited number of family members and caregivers can join their loved one’s Care Circle, allowing them to send messages and reminders to Memoryboard, making caregiving a team effort.

One-Time Cost, Lifelong Impact

Unlike many tech solutions, Memoryboard is a one-time purchase, with no ongoing fees or subscriptions. Once you buy the screen, it’s yours to use forever. The mobile app is included and free for every family member who wants to stay involved.
